Zürich: Rosengartenstrasse - Bucheggstrasse - Bucheggplatz (Spurchaos)
by Matthias 15 Dec '15

15 Dec '15

Fondue-Stammtisch 11. Dezember in Zuerich
by Patrick Stählin 07 Dec '15

07 Dec '15

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 Salut!
by Jonas Meier 06 Dec '15

06 Dec '15

Updated street name completeness data
by Simon Poole 28 Nov '15

28 Nov '15

I've updated the GWR street name list (see http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_-_GWR_Street_and_Place_Names_Compari…) to the BfS data from this November. Overall the effect seems to be positive, comparing http://qa.poole.ch/ch-roads/namestats_road-2015-11-27.png to http://qa.poole.ch/ch-roads/namestats_road.png This is likely to be due to improved categorisation on behalf of the municipalities, there are however some areas where coverage has gone down, please check these. Overall we now 85% of the roads correctly named, compared to a very early on visualisation qa.poole.ch/ch-roads/namestats_road-2013-03-01.png the improvements are obvious. As I've pointed out before there is still a lot of low hanging fruit that could be easily be checked and if necessary corrected. There are roughly 2'500 roads (2%!) which may have a small difference between official spelling and how the name is recorded in OSM and naturally some of these might be real typos. If you correct any of these, please see the guidelines here https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_-_GWR_Street_and_Place_Names_Compar…: Simon

The map is changing ...
by Simon Poole 10 Nov '15

10 Nov '15

It has been announced many times and discussed in depth, but you may have not realized that the "standard" style on openstreetmap.org is changing significantly today. Not everybody is going to be happy, but it has been obvious for a longer time that the style, as it was, designed for a low data density OpenStreetMap, had to change to continue to be useful in the future. The main and most noticeable changes affect the road rendering and are the result of a google summer of code project. For more information see https://blog.openstreetmap.org/2015/10/30/openstreetmap-org-map-changing/
