Translations osm.ch

Thanks to efforts of Michael (datendelphin) the move of the SOSM provided services to the new SOSM servers in Bern is nearly complete. See http://sosm.ch/wikimedia-donates-old-toolservers-to-sosm/ and http://sosm.ch/adfinis-offers-hosting-location/ As part of the move I've updated the osm.ch portal a bit and added the ability to pull translations from transifex. Up to now the portal was only in German, I've added an English version leaving French, Italian and Romansh to do. The transifex project can be found here https://www.transifex.com/organization/openstreetmap/dashboard/osmch Given that there are currently only 43 strings, I fully expect that we will have the missing three languages covered tomorrow :-). On a more serious note we are always looking for people that can help with the translation of content on sosm.ch which is currently predominantly German and English. SOSM AGM 18th April 2015 in Biel-Bienne / SOSM GV am 18. April 2015 in Biel-Bienne

Dear SOSM and and community members The 2015 annual general meeting will take place, as previously announced, on Saturday the 18th April in Biel-Bienne (actually the location is in Nidau), at 11:00. The venue will be the Lago Lodge, which is roughly 700m from the Biel main station: http://www.lagolodge.ch/ As always we will have the short formal part before lunch and after lunch go out and map a bit. Naturally all interested parties are welcome to the lunch and mapping party. It would be helpful if however both the SOSM members and others would indicate if they intend to come by mail to info(a)sosm.ch , we have limited space and need to inform the venue roughly how many participants we are expecting. A further note: the board is actively looking for more members to step up and help with board matters, particularly members from the French and Italian speaking regions of Switzerland. The board meets per voice conference once per month (mumble) and most of the time the work load is light. If you want to help spreading the word on OSM, please contact me directly. Es wäre allerdings hilfreich wenn alle Teilnehmer uns kurz mitteilen können ob sie beabsichtigen teilzunehmen, es hat beschränkt Platz und wir sollten den Betreiber der Lago Lodge mindestens grob mitteilen wie viele Leute anwesend werden. Noch ein Hinweis: der Vorstand sucht aktiv weitere Mitglieder die im Vorstand mithelfen, speziell solche aus der Französisch und Italienisch sprechenden Schweiz. Der Vorstand trifft sich einmal pro Monat elektronisch (mumble) und meistens ist die Arbeitsbelastung sehr klein. Wenn du mithelfen willst OSM bekannter zu machen, melde dich bitte direkt bei mir. Hallo, Wohin gehören eigentlich Adressdaten und wohin gehören sie nicht ? Ich bin relativ neu bei Openstreetmap und bin gerade ein bisschen Verwirrt: Mir ist nicht ganz klar, was man alles mit addr:... Tagen soll und was nicht. Ich habe versucht, mich anhand der Wiki's zu informieren, und so wie ich verstanden habe, gehören diese Tags nur an Häuser oder an amenity Poi's. Nun sehe ich, dass auch viele Strassen, Bäumen, Hydranten, Brunnen, Gewässer etc. mit diesen Tags versehen werden. Dess weitern sehe ich häufig Gebäude wie Schuppen, Garage etc. die nur zwei Adress-Tags haben: Nummer und Straßenname (addr:housenumber und addr:street). Wo steht geschrieben, was eine Gültige Adresse ist, und an welchen Sachen diese auch eingetragen werden ? MfG Sim.

Soeben via geowebforum.ch gesehen: Das Geoportal des Bundes und die Pädagogische Hochschule FHNW suchen kartenbegeisterte Lehrpersonen. Gemeinsam wollen sie im Schuljahr 2015/16 Ideen für den Unterricht mit map.geo.admin.ch entwickeln. "Der Kartenviewer map.geo.admin.ch bietet eine riesige Datensammlung, welche sich mit den offiziellen Landeskarten der Schweiz verbinden lässt. Gemeinsam mit «Geoportal Bund geo.admin.ch» sucht die PH FHNW nach Lehrpersonen, die zusammen mit Fachpersonen Unterrichtsideen für den Kartenviewer entwickeln und diese in ihrem Unterricht testen." Kein Stammtisch in Zuerich im April

Salut! Leider etwas spät aber damit uns niemand sucht am Samstag: Da die GV von SOSM und der Stammtisch nur eine Woche auseinander liegen, haben wir uns entschlossen im April keinen Stammtisch durchzuführen. Der Stammtisch im Mai sollte wie geplant stattfinden, ich verschicke dann (hoffentlich rechtzeitig) noch eine Mail. Gruss Packi
