Hello RB/Pan, To be honest, debating with you Is a bit frustrating because you seem to obviously ignore the strong points made by Sarah & Marc, and furthermore you don’t answer the precise questions that were directed to you. As I see it, Sarah and Marc have demonstrated that your over-use of nodes is simply wrong from a conceptual point of view. Thus, we are not anymore in the realm of “tastes and colors”, as you seem to understand it. Frankly, I hope you will acknowledge that because, if not, this thread will not come to a constructive conclusion. My “Swiss Compromise”-Proposal to get there would be: 1) The community acknowledges your effort in detailing landuse=forest mapping on a quite impressive area. 2) On your side, you acknowledge that you created landuse cover objects with an excessive number of nodes and you adapt your future mapping activity in accordance. 3) The community does not start a massive effort to simplify the objects you created, because there are lots of other things where mapping energy can be directed at, bringing much more added value to the map. 4) On the appropriate pages in the Wiki, we insert the points made by Sarah and Marc and lay down that it is not appropriate to map forest limits with more than one node every 10 m (or so). This in order to prevent that mappers in a “gamification-mood” come to the idea to artificially create an excessive number of nodes with the main purpose of improving their ranking in the contributor’s statistics (@Pan: Maybe you did notice that you are currently ranked #1 in Switzerland’s OSMstats?). What do you think about these proposals? Michael

Project of the Month (PotM) CH: Schulen / Schools / Écoles! (Juni 2021)

Liebe OSM-Interessierte, liebe Mapper:innen Cher personnes intéressées à l'OSM, cher mappeurs En français ci-dessous Einige Leute vom Schweizer OSM Chapter, SwissOSM, planen schon seit einiger Zeit eigene Aktionen unter dem Namen "Projekt des Monats Schweiz" (PotM CH). Dabei liessen wir uns vom franzöischen Project-du-Mois und vom deutschen "Schwerpunkt der Woche" inspirieren. Dies ist nun das erste "PotM CH Mail" dazu. Im allerersten Beim "Projekt des Monats Schweiz" vom Juni 2021 geht es darum, Schulen zu erfassen! Schulen waren auch das Thema am Mapathon anlässlich des vergangenen OSM-Sonntag vom 6. Juni, der anlässlich der FOSSGIS-Konferenz 2021 stattfand. Bei solchen PotM geht es darum, gemeinsam an einem bestimmten OpenStreetMap-Thema einen Monat lang gezielt zu arbeiten. Das dient der gezielten Verbesserung der Daten. Und Mapper:innen können auf ein Thema aufmerksam gemacht werden. Es gibt zurzeit zwei wichtige Webseiten zu PotM CH: * Erstens die dreisprachige Webseite (noch im Aufbau), kurz "OSM-Wiki" genannt. https://wiki.osm.org/wiki/PotM_CH * Zweitens die Superset Webapp, kurz "Dashboard" genannt: https://potm.osm.ch/superset/dashboard/12/ Erwartet zunächst noch nicht zuviel von einer PotM, denn Mapper:innen sind nicht immer gut zu erreichen - mal sehen! Freundliche Grüsse, Stefan --- Certaines personnes du chapitre suisse de l'OSM, SwissOSM, planifient depuis un certain temps leurs propres actions sous le nom de "Projet du mois Suisse" (PotM CH). Nous nous sommes inspirés du Projet-du-Mois français et du "Schwerpunkt der Woche" allemand. Il s'agit du premier "PotM CH Mail". Le tout premier "Projet du mois Suisse" de juin 2021 concerne la cartographie des écoles ! Les écoles ont également été le sujet du Mapathon à l'occasion du dernier Dimanche OSM du 6 juin, qui a eu lieu à l'occasion de la conférence FOSSGIS 2021. Les PotMs comme celui-ci consistent à travailler ensemble sur un sujet spécifique d'OpenStreetMap de manière ciblée pendant un mois. Cela permet d'améliorer les données de manière ciblée. Et les mappeurs peuvent être mis au courant d'un sujet. Il existe actuellement deux sites web importants pour le PotM CH: * Tout d'abord, le site web trilingue (encore en construction), appelé "OSM Wiki" pour faire court. https://wiki.osm.org/wiki/PotM_CH * Deuxièmement, la webapp de Superset, appelée "Dashboard" pour faire court: https://potm.osm.ch/superset/dashboard/12/ N'attendez pas encore trop d'un PotM, car les mappeurs ne sont pas toujours faciles à joindre - voyons voir! Dans le tableau de bord ci-dessus, vous pouvez voir joliment, entre autres, le nombre d'oscillations qui ont été enregistrées dans les écoles le Dimanche OSM. Avez-vous une idée pour un PotM CH? Hi, TomTom plant, Verbesserungen in OSM in der Schweiz vorzunehmen auf der Grundlage von Feedback zur TomTom-Karte, das auch für OSM gilt. Wir werden nur dann Änderungen vornehmen, wenn sie einen Mehrwert für OSM darstellen, nicht im Widerspruch zu den letzten Bearbeitungen der Community stehen, und durch eine lokale Bildquelle gestützt werden. Wenn es keine zuverlässigen Quellen gibt, werden wir die lokale Gemeinschaft konsultieren. Wir fangen mit Bearbeitungen von den folgenden Features an: Straßen und Wegen, Adressen, POIs, Landnutzung, Gebäuden und Wasser. The month of April 2023 is all about correcting, completing addresses and filling in missing ones. A special focus is on: * Check if addr:street is correct, i.e. if addr:street should not be correctly replaced with addr:place. * Check if the street or place mentioned in addr:street (addr:place) actually exists as an OSM street object (name in Key highway) or as an OSM place object (name in Key place). * If necessary, add the OSM road object as way and especially the OSM place object as node or area. * Check postal code (addr:postcode) and postal place name (addr:city) (sometimes the name of the municipality is entered instead of the postal place name). * On this occasion: add missing addresses of buildings - either as a standalone node or as a tag of the building. Don't forget to add the hashtag #potmch! The dashboard here shows the period from the beginning to the end of April 2023. This can be adjusted in the filter (bottom right). Platz (addr:place) auch tatsächlich als OSM Strassen-Objekt (name in Key highway) bzw. als OSM Platz-Objekt (name in Key place) existiert. * Falls nötig das OSM-Strassen-Objekt als Way und v.a. das OSM-Platz-Objekt als Node oder Fläche ergänzen. * Postleitzahl (addr:postcode) und postalischer Ortsname (addr:city) überprüfen (machmal ist fälschlicherweise der Gemeindename eingetragen anstatt des postalischen Ortsnamens ). * Bei dieser Gelgenheit: Fehlende Adressen von Gebäuden hinzufügen - entweder als eigenständiger Node oder als Tag des Gebäudes. Beim Bearbeiten nicht vergessen, den Hashtag #potmch zu setzen! Im Dashboard hier wird der Zeitraum von Anfang bis Ende April 2023 dargestellt. Dieser kann im Filter (rechts unten) angepasst werden. Un accent particulier est mis sur: * Vérifier si addr:street est correct, c'est-à-dire si addr:street ne devrait pas être remplacé correctement par addr:place. * Vérifier si la rue ou la place mentionnée dans addr:street (addr:place) existe effectivement comme objet OSM rue (name in Key highway) ou comme objet OSM place (name in Key place). * Si nécessaire, compléter l'objet route OSM en tant que way et surtout l'objet place OSM en tant que node ou surface. * Vérifier le code postal (addr:postcode) et le nom de la localité postale (addr:city) (parfois, le nom de la commune est saisi à tort au lieu du nom de la localité postale). * À cette occasion: ajouter l'adresse manquante des bâtiments - soit comme nœud indépendant, soit comme tag du bâtiment. GWR Addressdata Update

I've updated the GWR extracts that are available from http://qa.poole.ch/addresses/ch/ to data from the 20th of March of this year. As the BfS changed how they provide the data last year (that's the reason that this update was delayed), I used to opportunity to improve and simplify how I update the data. I hope this will lead to more frequent updates, at least till the next time the BfS changes everything. The caveats with respect to the data quality still apply, in particular because of the rather questionable street data for some mainly mountainous municipalities some local knowledge is a good thing to have before using the data. On a related note, Jonas (loremo) suggested at one point in time that we should include one of the GWR ids with the data for referencing updates/QA. There seem to be two possibilities how we could do that: - EGID + EDID (Eidgenössischer Gebäudeidentifikator + Eidgenössischer Eingangsidentifikator) or - EGAID (Eidgenössischer Gebäudeadressidentifikator) The former would seem to be more useful as it allows to determine if the entrances belong to the same building. Any comments? Tagging suggestion? Further because of the changes it would be possible to generate building type and level count information, it is a bit unclear how well this would map to OSM tags, but is somebody is interested we could look in to this. Schweizweite Änderung von `lanes:unmarked=yes` zu `lane_markings=no`

Guetenabemitenang! Soeben bin ich wegen dem Rumbasteln an ein paar Osmose-QA-Meldungen [1] auf das undokumentierte `lanes:unmarked=yes` an der Kirchstrasse in Wabern gestossen (https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/25511691 [2]). Diese Kennzeichnung einer fehlenden Mittelmarkierung gibt es knapp 100x in der Schweiz: https://taginfo.openstreetmap.ch/tags/lanes%3Aunmarked=yes Im Gegensatz dazu gibt es das (nur auf Englisch) dokumentierte `lane_markings=no` um eine fehlende Mittelmarkierung einer mehrspurigen Strasse zu kennzeichnen: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:lane_markings%3Dno Dieses gibt’s in der Schweiz mehr als 14000x: https://taginfo.openstreetmap.ch/search?q=lane_markings%3Dno Spricht aus eurer Sicht etwas dagegen, die 98 `lanes:unmarked=yes` in JOSM zu laden und mit ganz kurzem Drüberschauen [3] in `lane_markings=no` umzuwandeln? Wenn bis in ein paar Tagen hier kein Widerspruch aufflammt, dann werde ich das mal machen. Pingpong-Tische in der Schweiz

Tschou zäme Am Samstag sind mir in Köniz zwei Pingpong-Tische aufgefallen, die mit `leisure=sport` und `sport=table_tennis` getaggt waren [1]. Gemäss OSM Wiki [1] sollten Pingpong-Tische mit `leisure=pitch` erfasst werden, und sind das gemäss taginfo [3] in der Schweiz zum grössten Teil auch. Hat jemand etwas dagegen, wenn ich mit blanko *alle* "leisure=sport AND sport=table_tennis" in "leisure=pitch AND sport=table_tennis" ändere? Fussgängerzone + Treppen

Ich bin gerade über folgendes Szenario gestossen. Leider mappen wir ja tendentiell keine Wege innerhalb von Zonen wie Fussgängerzonen. In diesem Beispiel wurden dann die Treppe aber doch gemappt, ist aber mit nichts verbunden. Das ist auch irgendwie komisch: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/3819747676 Was wäre ein besserer Ansatz? Findet ihr sowas sinnvoll: OpenStreetMap | | | | | | | | | | | OpenStreetMap OpenStreetMap is a map of the world, created by people like you and free to use under an open license. | | | Persönlich halte ich das für komplett überflüssig. Verkompliziert die Karte und bietet keinen nenneswerten Mehrwert. Ob ein Trottoir vorhanden ist, kann man ja der Strasse als Tag mitgeben. Nur wenn der Weg abgesetzt ist und mehr oder weniger ein eigenes Trassee hat, würde ich das gesondert mappen. Ansonsten fragt sich, ob man sowas nicht einfach löschen soll? "Abgebaute Eisenbahnstrecke"

Tach ... kann mir mal einer erklären, was dieses Tag soll? Finde das immer wieder mal. Ich dachte, wir mappen, was man mehr oder weniger auch dort sieht/findet? Eine "Abgebaute Eisenbahnstrecke" ist oft ein Weg oder manchmal einfach nur eine Linie quer über einen völlig neuen Parkplatz, ohne jegliche Sichtbarkeit usw.... im Sinne der OSM Regeln scheint mir das Tag ein bisschen sinnfrei und nur für Eisenbahnhistoriker spannend?
