WMS-Luftbilder des Thurgaus
by Roland Gmünder 12 Jan '12

12 Jan '12

Questions on tagging
by Pascal Mages 11 Jan '12

11 Jan '12

Hi all First of all: Happy New Year! I have used some of my spare time to improve OSM around my area. A couple of questions came up I couldn't answer myself quickly using the OSM wiki or Google. So here you go: 1. Administrative boundaries: around Albisriederplatz the boarders are set as a separate way on top of the tramway way. It's very hard to select the right one. Shouldn't that be merged to one way only? Or set as relation? BTW there seems to be a problem with the boundaries anyway, as they are not closed. 2. How are pedestrian crossings supposed to be tagged, when the highway lanes are separated and there is a tramway in between? Should the lanes be connected or is it enough to simply put a crossing tag to all the nodes crossed? 3. I had to adjust some public transport relations due to the changes I made. I noticed that there are always to relation per bus line (at least for 33 and 72). Is that the way it's supposed to be? Cheers Pascal aka FreeMinded

How to map a Marroni-Stand?
by Stefan Keller 28 Dec '11

28 Dec '11

Hi/Hallo/Salut I'd like to find a "Marroni-Stand" and did not find any hint how to map this? A "Marroni-Stand" is a Taginfo gives an empty response and OSM Wiki asks me "Did you mean (Mikel) Maron" :-> (even "Verkaufsstand" is currently not known in the Wiki) Any ideas? Yours, Stefan

Anonymous Edits in Switzerland
by Sarah Hoffmann 13 Dec '11

13 Dec '11

Hi, as already discussed on yesterday's Stammtisch, I have made a simple page that shows all nodes in Switzerland that have been created by anonymous users: http://osm.lonvia.de/anonymous_edits.html (Careful, big file. Loads _really_ slow and may even crash your browser on older machines.) The page is updated once daily. For these edits there is very little chance, that the creators will ever agree to ODbL/CTs, so this data needs to be remapped sooner or later. Before you now go and delete all the data, please, keep two things in mind: - The map only shows the nodes but the ways that go along these nodes are, of course, tainted as well. So, you will need to remap the nodes _and_ ways that are made up by the nodes. - Don't just copy the old data but take the opportunity to improve it. Go out and survey the area again and fix a few errors along the way. Check if there are maybe better aerial photos available now that will improve accuracy, etc. In any case, you cannot simply make a copy of the old data and be done with it. You must have an independend source for the replacement data. Happy mapping Sarah
