*Next Hackathon and Swiss GLAMhack Awards*

The 4th Swiss Open Cultural Data Hackathon http://make.opendata.ch/wiki/event:2018-10will take place on *October 26-28 at the Swiss National Museum in Zurich*. This year’s event is supported by the ETH Library, Wikimedia CH, the Zentralbibliothek Zürich, infoclio, the Swiss Social Archives, Bern Universities of Applied Sciences, and docuteam. For the first time, our event is hosted by a museum. We seize this occasion to encourage more museums to participate as data providers. Please get in touch with Lionel Walter (lionel.walter@openglam.ch mailto:lionel.walter@openglam.ch) if you would like to make new data available.

We are proud to announce that this year’s hackathon will be supplemented by a competition, the very first Swiss GLAMhack Awards http://make.opendata.ch/wiki/event:2018-10#swiss_glamhack_awards. We see the awards mainly as an instrument to provide feedback to the teams and to make the event more attractive to a larger audience. Of course, we intend to preserve the collaborative spirit within the community.

Participation in the hackathon is free, and as in the previous years, we have reserved a limited number of beds at the local Youth Hostel for you. Note however that we are running on a very tight budget this year. Thus, if your participation is related to your job and your institution/company has an employee training budget, we would appreciate a contribution to the financial expenses of the event in form of a voluntary participation fee (850 CHF). Consider also supporting us by joining the Friends of OpenGLAM Network https://glam.opendata.ch/friends-of-openglam/!

*#GLAMhack @ Grafik ZRH – call for helpers*

We have been offered the possibility to present some projects of the hackathon at grafik ZRH http://www.grafik-schweiz.ch/– the Festival for Design and Technology in Zürich, running in parallel to our event on October 26-28. Want to help put the results of your hard work at hackathons in the public eye? Help us present the first four years of #GLAMhack in Switzerland, spread the fame and build bridges, at the grafik ZRH. If you are interested in participating in this project, please contact Oleg Lavrovsky (oleg.lavrovsky@opendata.ch mailto:oleg.lavrovsky@opendata.ch) by *August 31*!

*Celebrating Wikidata’s 6^th birthday during #GLAMhack*

On 29 October 2018, Wikidata will turn 6. If you are planning to run a hackathon project dedicated to Wikidata’s 6^th birthday, please let us know in advance, and we will make you some extra space at the public project presentation session. If you get in touch early enough, the Wikidata team at Wikimedia Germany will be happy to provide us with information material and give-aways!

*Related Events*

* A pre-event to our Hackathon for the Digital Humanities and other interested students will be held at the ETH on Tuesday September 11 (14h-16h). More information will follow on our hackathon page.
