Hi all! I have made about 800 to 1000 pictures of opening hours sign of shops which I am willing to share, e.g. for machine learning purposes. Read about it on the OSM-talk mailing list: https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk/2021-April/086397.html Best regards Lukas

Updates to QA sites http://qa.poole.ch/addresses/ch/ and https://qa.poole.ch/ch-roads/
by Simon Poole 02 Apr '21

02 Apr '21

I've updated the underlying data for both sites to data current as of March 2021. I originally intended to migrate to the "official" street list from swisstopo for the road names comparison in the hope that the data would be more consistent than the, now no longer officially published, street list generated directly from the GWR by the BfS. As we don't actually use the data directly this would have been possible even given the current difficulties with the swisstopo terms of use. Unluckily the list is missing important information, for example the language the street name in the list is in (this is important in real bilingual areas and it is somewhat amazing that this was left out, but there are a number of other very weird design choices wrt the information included in the list that I hope will be revisited down the road). As a result I still need to rely on some heuristics to determine object type (street, point, area) and if the road is actually used in the GWR, see my mail here back in 2019 on this. All that said, there are 9'000 new objects in the data since the last data update, so it is well worth checking your area of interest. Of the 140'162 roads we are currently matching 125'570 though this doesn't take minor spelling differences in to account (for example that Geneva decided to change capitalisation of the names in the list a couple of years back) and should be taken as a lower bound. On how to deal with such differences see https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_-_GWR_Street_and_Place_Names_Compar… The address data extracts on http://qa.poole.ch/addresses/ch/ continue to be generated from GWR data. However I've addressed an old issue: the geojson and OSM files now use "addr:place" for the street-level object if that can be determined from the street list. Simon

Liebe Mapperinnen und Mapper (english below) Der übliche OSM-Stammtisch (Zürich) vom 11. März fällt aus wegen der SOSM-Mitgliederversammlung vom 23. April. * Datum: Mi. 14. April, 19 bis ca. 21 Uhr * Ort: virtuell über BigBlueButton (nur Browser, no login) * Provisorisches Programm: https://giswiki.hsr.ch/Mapathon * Anmeldung: Mail an mich Beste Grüsse, Stefan --- Dear mappers The usual OSM meeting ("Stammtisch Zurich") on 11 March is cancelled due to the SOSM annual general meeting on 23 April. Instead we are organising an online mapathon! This time together with the "Missing Maps Zurich", i.e. the colleagues who are specialised in humanitarian aid. Everybody is welcome. There will probably be one group mapping local schools and another editing in a disaster area. The programme is still not fixed. * Date: Wed. 14 April, 7 p.m. to approx. 9 p.m. * Venue: virtual via BigBlueButton (browser only, no login) * Provisional programme: https://giswiki.hsr.ch/Mapathon * Registration: Mail to me Best regards, Stefan

Project for the ABZ Solidarity Fund
by Tiziano Müller 26 Mar '21

26 Mar '21

Hi there, some weeks ago I started to contribute, first with the StreetComplete app, now I also by fixing some issues around the place I live. The flat I live in belongs to the ABZ cooperative, which has an annual contest for funding projects related to "living", see [1]. Since OSM has subprojects for supporting blind and people with disabilities, and delivery services rely on good mapping data, I would see OSM as a "living" related project (even without those subprojects). More concretely I had the idea of submitting a project which would organize a contest (mainly among the members of the cooperative) to complete (possibly with the team feature of StreetComplete) as many quests as possible within a certain timeframe. Do you think this would be feasible? Any other feedback? Best regards, Tiziano [1] https://www.abz.ch/verantwortung/solidaritaetsfonds/

Looking for illustration of amenity=boat_sharing
by Mateusz Konieczny 19 Mar '21

19 Mar '21

Is it possible for someone here to take photo of Sailcom branded boat (or other boat sharing group)? And upload it on open license to https://commons.wikimedia.org/ ? (if you want to do it but unsure how - I would gladly help) https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:amenity%3Dboat_sharing is using blurry image with unclear copyright status and I failed to find a good replacement ( https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:A_Boat_To_Share.jpg ) I found it during cleanup of https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Category:Media_without_a_license I am writing to this mailing list as boat sharing seems especially popular in Switzerland ( https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/14I1) Sorry for English.

Lizenzfrage zu OGD (Kt. Uri, Lisag AG)
by Beni 03 Mar '21

03 Mar '21

Gruss, Beni
