Bonjour, Est-ce que quelqu’un s'est déjà penché sur la personnalisation du rendu pour un gps Garmin avec mkgmap? Je cherche à générer des cartes pour mon garmin eTrex utilisable en randonnée et VTT. Actuellement avec le style par défaut j'ai toutes les pistes "grade 1-5" qui se retrouvent sous la désignation "routes non pavé" Donc je vais devoir créer un style personnalisé mais avant je voudrais savoir si l'un d'entre vous a déjà fait qqch qui ressemble à nos cartes nationale. Hoi zäme ja - fast genau! - Schwimmstrecken auf OSM (rote und grüne, ...mit Radarfallen)! - und dazu braucht es doch die Icons? ;-) Also ich meinte nicht nochmals eine eigene Karte; sondern nur mal erfassen und anzeigen. Und wenn die Symbole mal erfasst sind, geht es doch von alleine? Now if there would only be a way to know which keys have been modified or deleted (not the exact values of course) and which relations have been broken. Has any of you succeeded in using the underlying WMS inside JOSM: http://tools.geofabrik.de/osmi/views/redactionbot/wxs? I (quickly) tried to get it to work and found the list with the various layers, I adjusted some parameters like FORMAT and TRANSPARENCY, but I kept ending up with error tiles. I'm not sure if this is by design of Frederik (to prevent tracing) or simply due to an oversight of me. For the areas I know and fixed already, it seems to be working pretty well. I just came across one deleted road that it didn't catch: This road was also missing and had to be redone (the only thing left was a set of orphaned nodes): http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/172339408 But it doesn't show up on Frederik's map: http://tools.geofabrik.de/osmi/?view=redactionbot&lon=6.49619&lat=46.65630&… Again, that was just a quick check, and I can't tell if this is really a bug or just an oversight of mine, e.g. the road was deleted by someone else. But let's keep in mind that mdk made his changes from the end of February to March 2012, which was so to speak in the very last minute before the change process that was expected for April. The remapping has been going on a long time before that point and should have pretty much been finished by then. Instead of focussing on mdk's unfortunate change sets, I think it would be more useful to look at the change set of OSMF Redaction Account, if for no other reason than that they reflect what truly went missing, they seem to be more compact and tend to have smaller bounding boxes. Alas, even if their bounding boxes might be smaller, they nevertheless cover a considerable area and I still abhor the idea searching all these bounding boxes for missing nodes, ways and relations. Yes, some of the deletions produce visible errors such as unconnected street segments, others leave visible gaps in a street, noticeable for those who know the area. But on a finer level such as tags or routes, the effort of finding out that something went missing at all goes quickly beyond anything that's reasonable. I understand that the exact locations of nodes and ways and the values of the keys need to be hidden away. But I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to give at least a vague (graphical) hint to the approximate location of deleted ways and relations and a list of deleted keys (without values) in the form of a set of map overlay tiles. If I remember correctly, one of the arguments why the CCBYSA wasn't working for OSM was that the OSM database would be a collection of "facts" that couldn't be protected. Now you could of course make the same kind of argument about Wikipedia (also under CCBYSA). In neither place you should "creatively" make stuff up. And just as WP uses combinations of words to describe these facts as efficiently and elegantly as possible, we in OSM use combinations of nodes, ways, relations and tags to describe facts. In both cases the "creativity" lies in the efficient and elegant use of our means to describe the underlying "facts". Which is to say that even if the exact description of the fact should or should not be protected by CCBYSA, it should still be possible to give us an approximate pointer to the underlying "fact" that was described and whose description needs to be redone. Hello Stéphane D., j'espère que ça va si je réponds en anglais, ça me prendrait un peu trop de temps en français. To use your example with the arboretum, obviously you don't need to hang a tag at each branch of a tree as long as the tag at the trunk is visible. Hanging a visible tag somewhere would correspond to the act of rendering. But that doesn't change the fact that each branch belongs to a certain tree. This is the difference between the renderer, who needs to decide what kind of detail is appropriate for each zoom level, and the underlying data, that can contain much richer information. And if you look at a long branch at a zoom level where the trunk might be out of sight, or if you are looking at a place where branches of different trees are almost touching each other, it can be useful to know which branch belongs to which tree without going back to the trunk. Again, I think this decision should be up to the rendering algorithm. For an example of a "label overkill" (done by a questionable rendering algorithm), have a look at with how many labels the Chemin de Montéclard in Epalinges is rendered in the Bing map: http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=rrrfzbhjnpgy&lvl=19.41&dir=348.33&sty=b&fo… But ultimately, my point is a different one: Since I have started mapping in 2010, it happened again and again that Stéphane Brunner felt compelled to "correct" and "improve" information that I had just freshly put on the map, making sure to have everything "his way", and at best notifying me after the fact if at all - not to seek an agreement, but to lecture me about "my error". Moreover, I find it slightly ironic that the very same guy, who felt last year the urge to separate the land cover to the left and right from my forest tracks in order to "represent the physical width" of the tracks, thus creating three times the amount of ways and data to maintain (see here: http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/Shernott/diary/14754), feels now the urge to delete information that he deems "abusive", i.e. not of interest to him. After last year's incident with Stéphane Brunner (http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/Shernott/diary/14754), he seems to be back to "correct" and "improve" my contributions: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/changeset/12404180 Well, last year I announced that I would withdraw entirely from mapping in the larger Lausanne area, but since I live there and a lot of mapping, that none else seems to be doing, remains to be done, I slowly started mapping again. In the upper part of Epalinges were a lot of unnamed, misplaced, and also missing streets. Since the situation has remained unchanged for quite a while, I started to do something about that. In this area, the streets often don't form a simple meshed network, but more something like a tree, where it's sometimes hard to tell if a residential street has split in several branches or if it's just a collection of long driveways with lots of houses connected to each of them. I have chosen to tag what I could identify as the "main arteries" as residential streets, and the rest as driveways. Some of these driveways are rather long, and on a high zoom level (or a small GPS screen) it's possible that all you can see is the driveway. To complicate matters further, sometimes neighbouring houses are served by different driveways coming from different residential streets. Given that in the OSM Wiki the name tag is considered a useful combination for a service highway (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:highway%3Dservice), I tagged those driveways with the corresponding street names, leaving the decision whether to render the name of the driveway or not to the rendering system. ... and along comes Mr. Brunner, who seemingly could live very well with all the unnamed, misplaced, and missing streets before, and decides without further question or discussion that my use of names on driveways is supposedly "abusive": http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/changeset/12404180 As I said earlier, apart from Stéphane Brunner I don't see a lot of mapping activity in the larger Lausanne area, and I'm seriously starting to wonder if that might have something to with his behaviour. Wiki-page for Remapping Switzerland?

Hello, what do you think, would it be a good idea to create a wiki-page for remapping Switzerland? There are some villages where a lot of streets, landuses and nodes are loss cause of the licence-changing. I think, it would be a good idea, to coordinate the remapping from Switzerland over the wiki, as poland it does: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Poland_remapping p.e. And these were not the kind of errors that would show up on OSMI, Keepright, or OsmOse. Hadn't I known the route (and the place) before, there wouldn't have been anything suspicious about it. So short of comparing your local knowledge and the allowed data sources with every single way and node (present or missing), I guess the only way to find out what was deleted would be to go back and look up the affected relations, ways, and nodes in an old planet file just before the redaction process took place. Of course not to restore them, that would be against the rules, but just to know what the heck needs to be repaired or redone. I'm not convinced of the necessity or benefits of this license change to ODbL, but at the time I joined OSM, there wasn't any choice for me anyway. Thorsten (Shernott)

North America 5. Australia 6. rest of the world Once it is complete, we will be ready to distribute data under the ODbL and we'll advise of that with a separate announcement. The final pre-redaction dataset available under CC-BY-SA has now been generated at http://planet.openstreetmap.org/planet-120704.osm.bz2 . Where data has been redacted, any attempt to access it from the API or the site's 'browse' pages will return a response to that effect. Test runs have shown that the bot is functioning as we want it to, but we will of course be monitoring its progress. We are currently expecting it to take in the order of one month to complete; given the many variables I'm afraid we can't give a more precise steer yet, but we'll aim to keep everyone updated as it runs (via the announce@ and talk@ lists). There will be _no_ API outage and no other interruption to editing. When the bot is running in your area, please do save your edits frequently to minimise the likelihood of conflict. WIKI separate page for MTB routes

I've split off the MTB route page from the "normal" cycling route page in the wiki. Mainly because the normal cycling page is simply getting too long and the potential addition of a further 136 local MTB routes would just make it explode. Wrongly tagged forest tracks

Thomas (t-i) has a bicycle access map that a number of you may have already seen http://osm.t-i.ch/bicycle/map/ If you have a look at the map you will notice large areas of red: http://osm.t-i.ch/bicycle/map/?zoom=12&lat=47.49081&lon=8.06874&layers=B000… Complete forests that are forbidden for bicycles. The reason for this is widespread incorrect use of access=forestry or access=agricultural on these ways. This restricts ANY usage of the way in question to forestry and agricultural use, so even by foot entrance is not allowed. What people are mostly tagging is the sign "Motorfahrzeuge verboten" in combination with "Waldstrasse" or "Land- und Forstwirtschaftliche Verkehr gestattet" see http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Switzerland/Map_Features#Other_common_Si… (note on the side: sign 2.01 http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bildtafel_der_Verkehrszeichen_in_der_Schweiz should be tagged verhicle=....... ). In principle it is naturally possible to tag access=forestry and then foot=yes, bicycle=yes, horse=yes and so on, but that is silly and error prone (and wouldn't cover usage for which OSM currently doesn't have a tag), the only sensible way to tag this restriction (which is universal by law in all of Switzerland) is motor_vehicle=forestry. Correct tagging of this situation is important if we want to provide correct bicycle and walking routing, don't forget that there are (forest) areas in which access is really not allowed, these can only be correctly determined if we don't have to ignore wrongly tagged objects. I've fixed some of this tagging in my immediate vicinity, and a lot of the access=forestry stuff, however there are roughly 3000 ways tagged with access=agricultural left of which a lot are in forests, where we can suspect the same mistagging has happened. The preferred way of handling this is for local mappers to correct the tagging, I would be prepared to change this in a conservative fashion in a massedit, however that will only so a 90% job and leave a lot of stuff that still will have to be individually corrected. Juni Daten aus den Bereichen Soziodemografie und Bauen freigegeben, z.B. Gebäude- und Wohnungsstatistik, dazu zahlreiche Geoinformationen wie die Basiskarte Stadtplan, ein Auszug aus der Point of Interest-Datenbank und das Strassennamenverzeichnis." A number of you may remember the discussion about founding a Swiss OpenStreetMap association from last year, at the time I didn't follow up on the idea due to many other OSM related activities and due to the fact that nobody volunteered a meeting room. Since the underlying motivation for creating such an organisation haven't changed and we (as in the Swiss OSM community) will have a presence at the exhibition part of GEOsummit 2012 (www.geosummit.ch) in Berne, I propose to have a founding meeting over lunch on June the 20th in Berne. Venue to be determined, but either in a restaurant in the exhibition buildings or nearby. We have a limited number of free exhibition entrance tickets available that will be available on a first come first serve base to members of the community that want to participate in the meeting. AGIS Orthofotos für den Kanton Aargau verfügbar

Wir haben die Erlaubnis bekommen die aktuellesten Orthofotos des kantonalen Aargauer GIS Büros für OSM Zwecke zu verwenden. Die Fotos sind vom April 2011 und haben eine nominelle Auflösung von 25cm, Fehler in der Orthorektifizierung sollen sich in der gleichen Grösse bewegen. Sie decken den ganzen Kanton und kleine Bereiche der Nachbarkantone und Süddeutschland ab. Ich bin aktuell noch daran Kacheln für Zoom Stufe 19 zu generieren, die vorhanden Stufen 18-16 sind aber schon sehr hilfreich. Leider haben wir ein grosses Gebiet im Grossraum Aarau in dem sehr fleissig von Bing abgezeichnet wurde, allerding ohne irgendwelche Lagekorrekturen zu machen, gleichzeitig wurde in grossen Stil geklebt (als spezielles Schmankerl auch landuse an Gebäude). M.a.W. wir haben ein grosses Gebiet, dass einiges an Arbeit erfordern wird um Fehler zu korrigieren. Siehe http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Switzerland/AGIS für Details Simon

Hallo zusammen, vor einiger Zeit habe ich hier monatlich eine Link-Liste mit interessanten Artikeln über OpenStreetMap aus Schweizer Sicht geposted. The LWG (Licence Working Group) published the plan for the Licence Changing [1]. So, at the 27.03.2012 the DB is changing to Read-Only for deleting/hiding the non-ODbL-Data. And at 01.04.2012 the DB should be online as ODbL-Database. I hope, in this week till 27.03. there will be some additional people accepting the ODbL... [ francais en bas / English below ] Hoi, der Umstieg auf die neue ODbL-Lizenz hat jetzt offiziell angefangen und wird wie angekuendigt Anfang April stattfinden. Wichtigstes Detail: Von 01. April 10 Uhr - 04. April morgens werden keine Edits möglich sein, weil die Datenbank umzieht. In der darauffolgenden Woche wird die Lizenz umgestellt. Waehrend dieser Zeit kann wieder gemappt werden (bitte keine Imports!) aber es ist durchaus mit kleinere Stoerungen zu rechnen. Wie es zur Zeit aussieht wird es in der Woche keine Kartenupdates geben. Liebe Leute Gerade rechtzeitig zur FOSSGIS 2012 wurde die experimentelle Webmapping Applikation "OpenPOIMap" freigeschaltet! OpenPOIMap befasst sich mit der Visualisierung von Point-of-Interests aus OpenStreetMap-Daten sowie mit deren Integration in andere Systeme. Mit OpenPOIMap kann man: * POIs visualisieren und interaktiv abfragen (=> Tab 'Home') - auch solche, die nicht auf Mapnik oder Spezialkarten dargestellt werden. * POIs herunterladen (=> Tab 'Download'), zur Nutzung in GPS/Navis oder sonstwie lokal. * POIs als Webservice (WFS) nutzen (=> Tab 'Webservice'). Neuartig sind dabei u.a. die Infoboxen zur interaktiven Abfrage von beliebigen POIs (vgl. Examples). Dazu kommt TagFinder (=> Tab 'TagFinder'), eine einfache aber intelligente Suche nach Tags (z.B. Schloss). Die Applikation umfasst zurzeit die Schweiz und die Daten werden täglich aktualisiert (jeweils frühmorgens). Testet http://openpoimap.ch/ ! Wir freuen uns über jedes Feedback! Bonsoir, Je recherche une application sur smartphone qui permettrait d'afficher les bornes incendies d'OSM et de m'indiquer la bonne direction pour trouver la plus proche. Cela me donnerais un argument supplémentaire pour motiver ma commune à mette ses données en OpenData sous une licence compatible OSM. benni_75

Hallo zusammen, da der 11. in diesem Monat mal wieder auf einen Sonntag fällt, gibt es für den Stammtisch zwei Vorschläge: 1) Mapping-Party am Sonntag 11. März Wir treffen uns irgendwo (vorzugsweise an einem Ort, der vom Lizenz- Wechsel stark betroffen ist), um dort zu mappen. Gerne auch ausserhalb des Kantons Zürich mit lokalen Mappern, z.B. in Frutigen. Weitre mögliche Orte findet man via Simons Karte: http://cleanmap.poole.ch/ 2) 'Normaler' Stammtisch am Montag 12. März Wir treffen uns ganz normal am Montag Abend an der ETH (oder anderswo). Was wäre euch lieber? Welche Orte leiden am meisten unter dem Lizenz- wechsel?
