Updated address statistics and comparison with GWR data

I’ve been running https://qa.poole.ch/addresses/ch/ since 2017 when the GWR ordinance was changed to allow public access to the address data. However as the site title says/said, this was based purely on counting the addresses per municipality and not on an actual comparison of the address data. This week I at last got around to improving it a bit and I believe it to be substantially more useful now. Ankündigung eines semi-automatisierten Imports: Schweizer Gipfel und Pässe aus swissNAMES3D

Liebe Mapper:innen Gerne möchte ich hiermit einen "Semi-Automated Import" - besser gesagt, einen computer-gestützten Import - ankündigen. Es geht dabei um Schweizer Gipfel und Pässe und zwar nur um diejenigen, die noch nicht in OSM sind. Als Quelle wurde swissNAMES3D verwendet (siehe die Wiki-Seite [1]). Die Ankündigung wurde auch hier [2] im Wiki in der Tabelle zuunterst dokumentiert. Die Nutzungsbedingungen zusammen mit dem FAQ von swisstopo erlauben diese Nutzung. In einem vorgängigen Schritt wurden alle Gipfel und Pässe aus swissNAMES3D selektiert, bei denen in OSM im Umkreis von 100m kein anderer POI existiert. Das ergibt 728 potentiell neue Schweizer Pässe und 1227 potentiell neue Schweizer Gipfel. Damit diese potentiell neuen Eintragungen effizient validiert ("auditiert") werden können, haben wir das Tool "Conflator Audit" ausgebaut und publiziert [3]. Jede:r Mapper:in kann dort mithelfen zu validieren. Gipfel sind natural=peak. Dabei kann es vorkommen, dass in OSM in der Nähe auch gleichamige place=locality oder tourism_viewpoint existieren könnten. Bei den Pässen muss darauf geachtet werden, dass swissNAMES3D nicht zwischen Pass und Sattel unterscheidet, während OSM einerseits den topographischen Sattel kennt (natural=saddle) und andererseits den Pass, als höchster Punkt auf einem Weg oder Strasse (getaggd als Node auf dem Way mit mountain_pass=yes). Falls wirklich ein Weg- oder Strassen-Pass vorkommt, muss das im Conflator Audit als "Invalid/Insufficient" markiert werden. Das wird dann im Nachgang anders importiert als der "Normalfall" Sattel. Als Changeset Tag wird #swissnames3d_osm_ch verwendet werden und als Source Tag source=swisstopo. Bei Fragen stehe ich gerne zur Verfügung. Happy Mapping! Photomapping

Hallo zusammen Ich möchte eigentlich Photomappen. Doch irgendwie habe ich hier den Dreh noch nicht ganz raus. Wenn ich die Fotos direkt im JOSM adde, dann zeigt es mir an, dass ich einen Bug reporten soll. Ich weiss nicht, ob das damit zu tun hat, dass ich JOSM auf Ubuntu (Distro Version) nutze. Eine aktuelle Developer Version habe ich nun noch nicht versucht. Wenn ihr Photomappt, was nutzt ihr dann, welche Programmkombinationen funktionieren. Gruss Raphael

highway=primary in Switzerland

Hello, Since more than 15 years, the page https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/FR:Switzerland/Map_Features refers to 741.272 annex A and B (https://www.fedlex.admin.ch/eli/cc/1992/341_341_341/fr) to choose between highway=primary and highway=secondary in Switzerland. But the only difference between roads listed in 741.272 annex A and annex B is the road number. Roads in annex A have signs with numbers, and not roads in annex B. It is not a very meaningful difference. In fact, another legal text also defines main roads in Switzerland: 725.116.21 https://www.fedlex.admin.ch/eli/cc/2007/797/fr. There are even online open data maps that show this network: https://opendata.swiss/fr/dataset/hauptstrassennetz and https://map.geo.admin.ch/?layers=ch.astra.hauptstrassennetz&lang=fr&topic=e… . In 2019, we noticed that 741.272 didn't define a satisfactory roads network in Geneva, and alternative mapping rules were written at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Routes_principales_dans_le_canton_de_Ge…. Today, I see that 725.116.21 defines a network that shares several roads with what we have independently mapped as highway=primary in Geneva. I therefore propose to modify https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/FR:Switzerland/Map_Features tby adding that roads listed in 725.116.21 should be mapped as highway=primary. Regards Marc Mongenet

Adresstagging-Schema "Endlösung"

Hallo zusammen Mir fallen immer mal wieder Changesets auf, welche von einem Adresstagging-Schema zum anderen migrieren. Als Beispiel folgende zwei völlig zufällig gewählte Changesets und möchte da absolut keinen Benutzerbezug herstellen, da es solche von vielen anderen Benutzern auch gibt: Hausumrisse -> Hauseingang: https://overpass-api.de/achavi/?changeset=150619623 Adresspunkte -> Hausumrisse: https://overpass-api.de/achavi/?changeset=150772946 Mir wird da immer etwas mulmig im Magen, da so sehr viele Arbeitsstunden von Mappern zunichte gemacht werden und wir uns so komplett im Kreis bewegen. Könnten wir uns da als Schweizer Community evt. auf eine "Endlösung" festlegen, wonach jeder Mapper sich hinbewegen kann? Oder gibt es dies schon und es ist mir noch nicht bekannt? Update GWR address & street data on qa.poole.ch

I've updated the GWR data both for https://qa.poole.ch/addresses/ch/ with per municipality address data and https://qa.poole.ch/ch-roads/ for road/place completion statistics to data from yesterday 2024-04-24. You might have noticed that previously the road data hadn't been updated since March 2021 (the statistics were still current from an OSM perspective) this was due to the dataset we had utilized since November 2012 no longer being available. In particular the data provided by the BfS no longer contains information on the type of the street level objects (streets, points, areas, unknown and none). It isn't clear why this changed, but to work around the issue the analysis is now based on a combination of GWR data from the BfS and street type data from swisstopo (actual provenience unclear). As the street data from swisstopo has slightly different type values and is not generated at the same time as the GWR data we use, slight inconsistencies are to be expected. If you see any unexpected discrepancies please get in contact with me. The good news is that it is now far easier to update everything, that is at least as long as the input data formats don't change again :-). Simon

primary highways in Lausanne

Hello Lausanne mappers, Highway=primary for national road 1 is interrupted in Placette du Tunnel. Highways should not be interrupted inside cities. I suppose the Lausanne road network isn't as well organized as it was when I first learned to drive (and had to follow the “Berne” signs). But are there really no signs pointing to Geneva for cars arriving from the north of Lausanne? In the "Guichet cartographique cantonal" map (OSM-based) at https://www.geo.vd.ch/ the road network hierarchy can be displayed. Rue Caroline seems to be the primary highway. Regards, Marc Mongenet

Die meisten Gebäudeecken liegen nahe bei 90 Grad, aber diese Challenge konzentriert sich auf Gebäude mit Winkeln von weniger als 15 Grad. Hallo zusammen Wie genau läuft das mit OSM und Open Journey Planer. Soweit ich verstanden habe, nurzt JOP die daten von OSM. Aber das SKI der SBB hat eine eigene Datenbank. Ist geplant, die Mapping Daten die das SKI nutzt in Open Streetmap upzustreamen oder wie sieht das aus? Falls jemand Hintergrundinformationen dazu hat, bin ich interessiert daran. Gruss Raphael

Hello everyone, I mapped recently around Lausanne, especially above the city (but still part of the commune) for example near "Vers-chez-les-blanc". Around here, if you look for example for "Chemin des Coumenets 26" in map.geo.admin.ch, you'll end up with "Locality: Lausanne 26" and a corresponding new PLZ6/NPA6 with the same number "100026" (the current NPA/PLZ 4 number long is "1000"). I'm sure that the same situation is happening somewhere else in Switzerland and that it was already discussed (but I couldn't find anything here or on the wiki). How should we map those addresses (Locality and PLZ/NPA)? Does anyone have further information about this PLZ6/NPA6? Should we already add them in another field? Best regards, Loïc
