Am Freitagnachmittag, 24. April 2026 ab 14:15 Uhr findet der 18. Mapathon
z.B. gezielt Objekte erfassen („Targetted Editing”). Einsteiger:innen

Guten abig,
I was looking at the data for Luzern Bahnhof. I noticed some weird
polygons, but maybe it is expected, maybe it is wrong. Can someone share
their opinion?
https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/17482554 - this is a multipolygon
with several members and seems to have the full outer edge, inner edges, is
level=0, build_part=yes, is also highway=footway and building=yes
https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/1280137373 - this looks to be the same as
the outer way of the multipolygon above. But this is not a child member of
the multipolygon, and has sparse other tags.
is the way a duplicate of the relation? Or should these really both exist
separately?
A secondary question: we have the railway station as a node:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/2051794005 - should the relation and way
above be named Bahnhof Luzern, considering the node is named Luzern, or
should the relation and way just have no name, as train station buildings
but not the representative "point of interest" that has a name?
Thank you for your opinions on this and I look forward to learning what is
the best practice!
Freundliche gruesse,
Christopher Beddow

Recently I have noticed a few cases when entrances have a name, which
matches the name of the place they are associated with. I do not think this
is correct practice, and wanted to confirm with the community here.
Example 1: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/9283595316
This is a Migros parking garage entrance, and the name is just "Migros
Goldau". But that is not the name of the parking garage, that is the name
of the supermarket. I could understand perhaps "Migros Goldau Parking" as
the name, and I otherwise like to see some way of indicating "this garage
is for this POI" but name field is not the way, is that correct? I plan to
delete this name.
Example 2:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/4449332009#map=19/47.052459/8.303734
The Coop City may not be there anymore, but the Coop is in a nearby
building. SO this again is an entrance with the name of the POI.
Example 3: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/2710885475
This seems to mash a few things together: it is an amenity, but also an
entrance, and has a description indicating what the specific building is,
and the name is generalized to the whole university. If it were to only be
left as an entrance node, and the Luzern University School of Music was
split into a new POI for a music school or university building, I am
wondering if it is indeed correct to have it as an unnamed entrance but
with the address staying on the entrance node.
Example 4: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/9821261758
This is a specific type of entrance, emergency room/emergency ward.
However, the name indicates it is the main entrance, which is different
from emergency (I believe the actual emergency entrance is on north side of
this building). It seems overall this is an entrance, correctly, and
including a name might be actually merited here "Eingang Notfall" but it
simply has the wrong name. Does that sound correct?
Example 5:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/506077428#map=19/47.047219/8.307857
This one appears to be an entrance merged with the POI restaurant itself,
and it is a node on the line. Attempts to make sure the entrance to the
restaurant is very clear, but I assume these should be separated and the
entrance unnamed.
Example 6: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/11190670860
This one is an entrance, with the street address (which seems fine), but
has the POI name. The POI also exists separately. I actually am the one who
created this entrance node and named it this way, though I forgot about
doing so!
I deleted a few others nearby where the entrance, a door for people on
foot, had the exact name of the cafe and the exact name of the post office.
I appreciate any thoughts and commentary on the practice of naming with
entrances in general, as I would like to look out for it going forward, but
also am very interested in recommended ways to ensure an entrance is able
to be associated with a POI.
salut!
