Routing over ferry routes

Hello all, I recently noticed unexpected results when using the routing interface at routing.osm.ch. When planning a bike or foot hike, the algorithm uses ferry routes over lakes if this makes the route shorter. For instance, this bike course between Brienz and Bönigen mostly uses ferry routes : https://routing.osm.ch/?z=13&center=46.715386%2C7.975903&loc=46.755034%2C8.… Is this the expected result, an issue with the OSRM routing algorithm itself, its parameters or the definition of the ferry route ? To me, routing over ferries is conceptually wrong, because the user is not actually biking or hiking on the ferry route. To stretch this to the extreme, the foot/bike routes should also include motorways and railways because a pedestrian/cyclist can mount a car/bus/train. Best regards. Alain

Yes, a new year is approaching with alarming speed, as every year since we imported the municipal administrative boundaries we will update them on the 1.1. or soon after. I've prepared (again as always) a list to facilitate splitting the work up: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Switzerland/2017_Municipality_Mergers Note: the Canton Graubünden is replacing its 11 "Bezirke" with 11 "Regions", not quite sure how much work that will be, but it is not really high priority. Parc Naziunal Svizzer / Schweizerischer Nationalpark

The Swiss National Park would like to have the German name as the main name tag in OSM. I'd like to get some opinions on this. The Swiss Parks Network (parks.swiss) has provided me with updates of the outlines of the national and regional parks in Switzerland, and I have updated them in OSM. Via this contact I was asked to change the name of the Swiss National Park from Parc Naziunal Svizzer to Schweizerischer Nationalpark. They would like to see that name on the OSM standard map. They say the park is better identified (more widely known) with the German name. I'm not sure about this. Should we accept their wish or should we insist on the naming it in Rumantsch as it is in that language region? Michael

Retina / High DPI

Hallo zusammen! Mein Notebook hat ein High DPI Display (276 dpi), ungefähr entsprechend "Retina" auf Apple-Maschinen. Nur leider wird die hohe Auflösung von openstreetmap.org nicht unterstützt. Dabei ist sie IMHO gerade für Landkarten eine Offenbarung, wie ich finde: https://osm.rrze.fau.de/testhd.html (falls kein Retina, vergleich es bei Browser-Zoom 200%) Im Prinzip wird sie von Leaflet ja auch untersützt: http://leafletjs.com/reference.html (Flag detectRetina) Weiß jemand, ob Retina-Unterstützung auf der .org-Seite bald geplant ist? Oder könnten wir es einfach für http://routing.osm.ch/ mal aktivieren? Klar, es kostet Speicherplatz und Rechenzeit, aber es macht wirklich einen Unterschied, und es würde einen Vorsprung von Google Maps ausgleichen. Grüsse, Johannes

Bonjour à tous, Using Twint from several months, I'd like to add this payment method on several POI with `payment:twint=yes`. Is it correct or should I use a generic namespace for digital money and specifiy twint as value? Thanks in advance for your inputs! Meilleures salutations, Rémi

Hallo zusammen Ich werde am 24. und 25. Oktober zwei Mapping-Parties in Chur, bzw. Externe sind aber ebenfalls herzlich willkommen. Kommt vorbei bzw. ladet Bekannte ein! Helfer gesucht für Mapping-Parties in Chur/Bern am 24./25. Okt.

Hallo zusammen Kurzfassung: Ich suche Helfer für Mapping Parties in Chur und Bern am Di 24. und/oder Mi 25. Oktober. Ich habe die Gelegenheit erhalten, für die Studierenden des Studiengangs Multimedia Production (MMP) der HTW Chur im Rahmen des Unterrichts eine, bzw. zwei Mapping Parties zu organisieren. Von mir angedacht ist dafür ein Nachmittag/Abend mit folgendem Aufbau: - Theoretische Einführung - Datenaufnahme vor Ort in kleinen Gruppen (parallel: Armchairmapping[*] mit kleiner Teil-Gruppe) - Eintragen am PC mit iD (unterstützt durch Helfer (d.h. euch) und Armchairmapping-Gruppe) - Gemütlicher Teil mit Nachtessen, z.B. Pizza, Bier Der Studiengang MMP wird an zwei Standorten (Chur und Bern) durchgeführt, entsprechend wurde gewünscht, dass an beiden Orten eine Mapping Party stattfindet. Als Termin kommt dafür (unabhängig voneinander) jeweils der Dienstag 24. Oktober und/oder Mittwoch 25. Oktober in Frage. Am Standort Chur sind es im entsprechenden Semester ca. 60 Studenten, am Standort Bern ca. 30, wobei wir damit rechnen, dass ca. je die Hälfte davon dann auch tatsächlich teilnimmt. Um diese Anzahl Personen beim Mappen mit iD zu betreuen, bräuchte ich noch etwas Unterstützung. Kann ich auf einige von euch zählen? Dann gebt mir doch per Mail Bescheid. Grüsse und merci!
