18. Mapathon & Mapping Party Rapperswil, Fr. 24. April 2026, 14:15-21:00

Am Freitagnachmittag, 24. April 2026 ab 14:15 Uhr findet der 18. Mapathon & Mapping Party auf dem Campus Rapperswil der FH OST statt. Es handelt sich um eine Mapping-Party (outdoor), weil einige – die sogenannten „Craftmapper“ – nach draussen gehen und die Umgebung erfassen, beispielsweise Gebäudeinformationen. Gleichzeitig ist es auch ein Mapathon (indoor) für die „Couchmapper”, die vom Laptop aus z.B. gezielt Objekte erfassen („Targetted Editing”). Einsteiger:innen von 16 bis 99 Jahren sind herzlich willkommen! Es können auch Fragen gestellt werden („Ask-us-Anything”). Gesprochen wird hauptsächlich Deutsch, manchmal auch Englisch. Wir treffen uns um 14:15 Uhr im Erdgeschoss des Seegebäudes 6. Man kann auch später kommen (und früher gehen). Ab 18:30 Uhr beginnt der gemütliche Teil. Weitersagen! Playgrounds on private property

Hoi säme! I recently put together a website: https://playmap.ch I made this for my own needs to start, with two young kids and looking for nearby playgrounds. Makes it just slightly easier than with Organic Maps. Some feedback I got is that many of the playgrounds I pulled into the map are on private property. This is after I already filtered out anything with access=private. I was thinking I could overlay my data on property parcels to remove any on private parcels but I am sure that some number of somewhat public playgrounds may be lost there anyway: does anyone have an opinion on that? Otherwise I was thinking putting the results of this overlay onto MapRoulette might be a nice community project to add access tags, but it can be difficult also without local knowledge. Der nächste OSM-Stammtisch in Zürich steht bald wieder bevor. Kommt vorbei, habt Spass am Fachsimpeln oder “Ask-us-Anything”! Wir treffen uns in der Bitwäscherei, einem Hackerspace im 3. Entrances: name or operator?

Grüezi, I am looking at an entrance I added to a cafe a while back. I see I added the name of the cafe as name=Bahnino on the entrance, and the cafe has its own point that is the same name. I was wondering if that is wrong: should I instead put operator=Bahnino, or even remove the name from the entrance entirely? On my own map project I was searching for duplicates and this came up as a weak candidate due to same name. What is the best protocol in general for giving some signal that the entrance is connected to a specific POI, considering that a building could have many entrance nodes but each one could lead to one or many places directly? https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/9283595407 Thanks for any tips and advice!
