Hi
Would anybody of you have ideas if, and if yes, how the openstreetmap community has or wants to have connection points to the red cross? We have currently some initialization talks resp are collecting ideas where it makes sense in the wikipedia context.
Best, Rupert
AFAIK HOT has had contacts with the IFRC (not to be confused with the ICRC) and the American Red Cross since the taifun Haiyan, this year the contacts have been quite intensive due to the ebola crisis. MSF (Swiss branch) has had substantial OSM exposure too.
That said I'm not quite sure what could be done outside of the HOT context. There is a certain danger in that HOT and HOT activations could be considered representative of "normal" OSM which is not really true and maybe some insight in to the rest of OSM would be a good idea.
