Good evening everyone
I've got two questions related to DIDOK and public transport:
1. Is it fine to put `uic_ref` and `uic_name` tags only on `public_transport=stop_area` if present? Or is required to put them on `highway=bus_stop`/`railway=tram_stop`/`railway=station`/`railway=halt` in addition or instead for reasons of compatibility? 2. Is there any preferred formatting for the `operator` key (abbreviation, official name of the company or a combination)? For example we currently have these variants for PostAuto Schweiz AG according to Taginfo (plus combinations with other operators and many other (mis)spellings): - PAG: 11,097 - PostAuto Schweiz AG: 875 - PAG PostAuto Schweiz AG: 123 - PostAuto Schweiz AG (PAG): 117 - CarPostal Suisse SA: 46

imho it's enough and better to put them only on stop_area if it exist. in this case, uic_ref is uniq.

in osm, we are used to not using abbreviations for name (except in short_name), it seems to me that the correct value is PostAuto Schweiz AG. But according to taginfo, short names are very more common. https://taginfo.openstreetmap.ch/keys/operator#values therefore the most important thing is probably' to have a uniform value to be able to make query on it. but witch one ? one per language versions ? or a ugly "PostAuto Schweiz AG - CarPostal Suisse SA - ..." ? A good starting point would already be to harmonize the different ones that exist in each language.

Hi
It's not only PAG, I think most of the operators are tagged with their usual abbreviation. I don't remember what the rationale was, but the consensus was the abbreviation back in 2010 (didok import). A larger part of those 875 PostAuto Schweiz AG could still be from an unrelated bot that ran away a bit afterwards. Well it is a bit late. I know we can change it, but we would have to edit all stops. Answering the initial question from my perspective: For now I would suggest to use what is commonly used.
