Hi everyone,

as some of you may already have seen, the applications for State of the Map (SotM) 2020 scholarships are now open [1]. The SotM is the international OpenStreetMap conference and takes place from 3 to 5 July 2020 at the University of Cape Town's (UCT) main campus in the Rondebosch suburb of Cape Town [2].

The scholarships are intended for those for whom a trip to Cape Town is difficult for financial reasons. This year, you can also apply for a sponsorship for a part of your travel expenses instead of a full scholarship. Deadline for applications is February 15, 2020. A lot more information about the scholarship program can be found in the blog post [1].

We are also still looking for more talk submissions for the conference. The call for presentations is still open until February 23, 2020 and we would be happy to receive your submission [3]! If you know someone who has a great topic or story that is related to OSM to share, we also suggest you personally point them to this call and encourage them to present even if they haven't done so before. More information about the call for presentations can be found in the blog post [4] and my first email about it to this list [5].

Hallo zusammen,

wie einige von euch vielleicht schon gesehen haben, ist die Bewerbungsphase fuer die "State of the Map (SotM) 2020"-Stipendien jetzt offen [1]. Die SotM ist die internationale OpenStreetMap-Konferenz und findet vom 3. bis 5. Juli 2020 auf dem Hauptcampus der Universitaet Kapstadt (UCT) im Stadtteil Rondebosch von Kapstadt [2] statt.

Die Stipendien sind fuer diejenigen gedacht, fuer die eine Reise nach Kapstadt aus finanziellen Gruenden schwierig ist. In diesem Jahr kann man auch einen Antrag auf die Uebernahme eines Teils der Reisekosten anstelle eines vollen Stipendiums stellen. Die Bewerbungsfrist endet am 15. Februar 2020. Viele weitere Informationen ueber das Stipendienprogramm finden sich im Blog-Beitrag [1].

Wir suchen auch noch nach weiteren Vortragseinreichungen fuer die Konferenz. Der Aufruf zur Einreichung von Praesentationen ist noch bis zum 23. Februar 2020 offen, und wir wuerden uns ueber eure Einreichung freuen [3]! Wenn ihr Leute kennt, die ein tolles Thema oder eine schoene Geschichte mit OSM-Bezug zu teilen haben, dann schlagen wir auch vor, dass ihr sie persoenlich auf diesen Aufruf hinweist und sie ermutigt zu praesentieren, auch wenn sie dies vorher noch nicht getan haben.
