Hi Folks
I spent some time yesterday evening focusing on the DIDOK information and cable car. I noticed in many causes the automatic match failed because the cable cars in OSM don't have top/bottom stations, which is what the matching algorithm appears to be looking for. I added a number of stations, but now i have some questions:
1) This morning the stations are now rendered on the tiles. However by 8:00 this morning they are not clickable, so i cannot associate a DIDOK point to them. How often is the list of clickable OSM points rebuilt? When does it happen?
2) Once the new stations are recognized, will they be automatically matched? Was the matching algorithm run once and that was it, or is it run regularly?
3) Is there any way to automagically add stations to cable cars where there are not already station? Or can i get JOSM to find such cases and show them to me?
4) How easy would it be to build a subset map which shows DIDOK points which are currently unlinked, but near to cable car endpoint? Middle stations would also be nice, but i guess that is harder?
Thanks Andrew

The database is updated every night. Depending on the amount of changes made, the update finishes between 7 and 9. Tonight it run a bit late but by now the stations should be visible. If you cannot see them, please, post a link to the station in question.
- Once the new stations are recognized, will they be automatically
matched? Was the matching algorithm run once and that was it, or is it run regularly?
The match is done every night as well. So, whenever data is added in OSM it should be appropriately matched by the next day. (The exception is a type change of an operator, i.e. when you change an X on the map to the approriate stop type, all other stops of the same operator will be fixed, too, but only after two match cycles, thus two days.)
- Is there any way to automagically add stations to cable cars where
there are not already station? Or can i get JOSM to find such cases and show them to me?
This could be done automatically but I'm very relucant to do such a global change without a strong consensus from the Swiss mappers. I'd rather see such changes done by people with the local knowledge.
The other point is: unconnected Didok points are not a problem, they are simply uploaded as new nodes during the final import. However, I see that matching them up beforehand is interesting because then the nodes would be connected to the correct way already and the type guessing would be much more reliable than it it now for cable cars.
One possibility would be that I provide an .osm file that can be loaded into JOSM and then you can upload the data that looks good just in the area you are interested in.
- How easy would it be to build a subset map which shows DIDOK points
which are currently unlinked, but near to cable car endpoint? Middle stations would also be nice, but i guess that is harder?
This could be only done as a read-only map. I did not do those yet because it would make an already complicated user interface even more complicated.
