Hi
I've updated the current_coverage page [1] in the wiki with recent data.
What seems intresting to me are the numbers for primary/secondars highways. I've not looked at the two vector datasets, but it seems to me that there is a difference in the classification/tagging. I can't believe that we have just mapped half of all primary roads. Does anybody have an idea on how to examine this further?
The railway numbers are probably that high because of the mapping of single railtracks.
I still have to come up with a query to calculate the forest/wood area. Any hints?

I still have to come up with a query to calculate the forest/wood area. Any hints?
Paste the following SQL query into the Query box of the PostGIS Terminal:
SELECT ST_Area(ST_Collect(way))::int8||' m2' FROM osm_polygon WHERE ("natural"='wood' OR landuse='forest')
It's based on a nightly update from the Geofabrik OSM extract of Switzerland.
Yours, Stefan
As it happens, I have just done the same exercise the other day [1], but didn't upload it yet. And I was surprised as well by the low percentage of primaries but it seems to me that the classifications are quite different. How was the data for "Vecteur200"/"Vecteur25" obtained?
Regarding the forest, I imported the data into QGIS and calculated it there. I got 8085 km2, but the multipolygons were calculated using only the outers.
[1] here my results (in km): motorways 2943 motorways_link 632 trunk 499 trunk_link 83 primary 4404 primary_link 61 secondary 5174 tertiary 10641 unclassified 14570 residential 21398 service 6068 track 39568 road 739 pedestrian 261 living_street 137 cycleway 1109 footway 5288 path 14103 steps 216
