Hi,
as already discussed on yesterday's Stammtisch, I have made a simple page that shows all nodes in Switzerland that have been created by anonymous users:
http://osm.lonvia.de/anonymous_edits.html (Careful, big file. Loads _really_ slow and may even crash your browser on older machines.)
The page is updated once daily.
For these edits there is very little chance, that the creators will ever agree to ODbL/CTs, so this data needs to be remapped sooner or later.
Before you now go and delete all the data, please, keep two things in mind:
- The map only shows the nodes but the ways that go along these nodes are, of course, tainted as well. So, you will need to remap the nodes _and_ ways that are made up by the nodes. - Don't just copy the old data but take the opportunity to improve it. Go out and survey the area again and fix a few errors along the way. Check if there are maybe better aerial photos available now that will improve accuracy, etc. In any case, you cannot simply make a copy of the old data and be done with it. You must have an independend source for the replacement data.
Happy mapping
Sarah
Hi Sarah
Did you notice the node in the north east of Brienzersee?
It seems to be Switzerland!

Indeed. Luckily, we should be able to remap that one from local knowledge. At least me, I vaguely remember where Switzerland is. ;)
Does anyone know where the true geographical center of the country is, though? Would be a good place to put the new node.

Hi Sarah,
I have some little wishes for the anonymous edits map: - can you show a date which data you are using? - can you add a button or slider like OSMI to hide or dim the base map, so the overlay is better visible?
thanks for the helpful map!
Regards
Michael (aka mdk)

Done.

That should already be there. Try to refresh the page.
thanks for the helpful map!
Just a small comment on the anonymous map:
After some discussions with some people on #osm, we have found out that it is possible for people with anonymous edits to agree to the CTs and indeed about 350 people have done so. Unfortunaletly, it is impossible to know with the current history data which data is safe and which isn't. So, some of the data that is shown on the map might actually be ok to use under ODbL.
I hope we can solve this problem soon, but for the moment, it might be a good idea to wait a while before doing larger replacements. I'll post on this list as soon as I know more.
Gruss

Unfortunately, there are no news about the problem with the anonymous users. At the moment the whole proces got stuck in the OSMF bureaucracy.
However, for those who don't follow the other lists, I'd like to point out that the OSM Inspector now has a license view, where you can check all data that needs remapping:
http://tools.geofabrik.de/osmi/?view=wtfe&lon=8.20386&lat=46.90637&a...
The view doesn't distinguish between people who have declined and those who have not responded because at this point we'll have to start replacing both.
Have a look at your area and see what you can replace. Once more, remember that you need new sources when replacing the stuff. Hints for effective remapping are on the wiki: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Remapping

Just a further note on http://odbl.poole.ch/garmin/ there are (experimental) maps for Garmin devices that are based on the data from Frederik Ramm / GeoFabrik.
