Dear Beat
So far I have no helpful thoughts on this issue.
But, thanks god I'm not the only OSM dude, thus I share this email with the Swiss OSM ML, there read people with much more OSM insight and experience than I have.

Well, if we agree on working on data from Switzerland, we should check which historical maps are available for Switzerland and maybe also think about integrating the inventory of historical roads (it is available as a geo-service).
It should also be noted that the monuments lists from the confederation don’t contain the years of construction of the buildings. However, in connection with historical maps, it could be fun to use data that includes the periods of construction, so you could actually only show buildings that had already existed at the time, along with the major roads of the time. I think we have a data set from the canton of Zurich that could be used for this (for the other cantons, the situation varies greatly).
@Susanna: Is this something that could be connected to the work you have been doing so far, or are you exclusively focusing on Scandinavia? – What would be the extra effort of including Swiss map data into your framework? How can we help with this?
I’m including Andreas Bürki from the Swiss OSM community, so he can throw in his thoughts on this.
Cheers,
Beat

Hoi,
We already can put things on a map based on a query using the unofficial tools. There will be map people in Zurich so working on Maps makes sense. It makes particular sense because Susanna is involved in historic maps and putting both monuments on the map and maybe even putting them on historic maps seems to me like a way to get to synergy.
So when you can get more OSM people to Zurich, I think they will have fun.
Thanks,
Gerard

Dear Gerard, dear all,
I would be happy to work on this during the Zurich Hackathon. I have good connections to the data owner and the Wikipedians who have set up the monuments lists in the German Wikipedia, so I could certainly bring in these perspectives and maybe also invite a few people to join us if necessary.
One programmer from Zurich might also be interested in helping with this; I would however need to check with him to be sure. Software programmers are generally over-committed at such events, and he also is still studying, so May might be a busy month from that side as well.
I think it would be good to clarify in advance everybody’s availability during the hackathon and to decide on a rough work plan.
And please also let me know if you want to have OSM people on board for this as well, or whether that would be a separate project.
Cheers,
Beat

Hoi,
Yes, you are missing something. The tools I show you are not official and are not based in LUA. I would love to have the official functionality available but it is not. What I do know is that Lydia and her team will be in Zurich and she may work with us on exactly this.
The fact of the matter is that we can do what you need except it will be using Wikidata and not LUA on WIkipedia.
Thanks,
Gerard

Hi Gerard,
I think as next steps we would need:
A Lua implementation of a monuments list (some sort of pilot
implementation to demonstrate how the data will be included via a wikidata query)
An interface to easily update monuments lists (I’m not sure
whether Wikipedians will like the idea of having to update lists by editing Wikidata – I would expect some non-trivial usability issues there – ideally, it would be like editing an Excel table)
Transfer of all the monuments data to wikidata (there seems
to be still quite a lot of data missing)
Replacement of all the old monuments lists by new lists based
on Lua.
Does that make sense? – Am I missing something?

It is relatively easy to make a query with all items that have a KGS number. <grin> labs willing and labs is down for this atm </grin>.
The point of such a list is very much for others to use. It is trivial to add missing items to wikidata. Once they have a KGS number, they will just pop up after ten minutes when the query is re-run. What is problematic from my point of view, is the way information is added to Wikidata. The fact that something is a Swiss monument is implicit in the KGS number so it does not need to be an "instance of" because at best it is an attribute of the building that you describe.
It is not a real problem; it has everything to do with the immaturity of Wikidata. The cool thing is that because of queries and bots and it being in a database it is rather easy to fix.
When you want labels for all these items in other languages, it is rather easy as well when you use Reasonator. With a user has it set up properly, he can add labels and the processing is done while he goes on with a next item.
The only thing that is relevant is that you should concentrate on one place where you make changes. WHen you use Wikidata, you can use LUA to reflect the changes in the Wikipedias.
PS I will be in Zurich for the hackathon.. Is this something that would be adavantageous ?

Generally I am very intersted in the topic of Swiss Monuments in combination with WikiData and OpenStreetMap. I'm the developer of the DenkMap [1] project, which currently visualizes the monuments from the canton of Zurich on a map. The integration of WikiData for my app is kind of the next step, to be able to query WikiData the missing piece.
I guess the "Zurich Hackathon" refers to [2]. Is that correct?
As a member of various communities (opendata, OSM) and developer I'd like to participate or at least get more information about all this. I don't really know WikiData (apart from listening to the CRE podcast [3]).
