actual tagging that developped over time.
I strongly disagree that using unnamed guideposts as nodes is the actual tagging. Hiking routes are by a vast majority mapped between named guideposts (=Ways can be part of multiple lwn relations). In most of the cases the relations have a name=tag including the guidepost label at the start and the end of the relation. This is easily verifiable using hiking.waymarkedtrails.org
It's worth noting that the Swiss hiking network in its current state is pretty much 100% the result of undiscussed mass edits by user hecktor. I have a hard time finding any relation that he has not touched in Switzerland. He has singlehandedly added name and osmc:name tags to all the relations and it looks like he was also involved in mapping many of the overlapping relations that exist.
