I'm very aware of the sensitivities (one reason why I've addressed the French speaking mappers -first-). I can't change the fact that from a pure number point of view there is a German-speaking majority, I have however suggested multiple times that we at least try to use English for more important issues on this mailing list to try and make the issue s bit less severe.
The same goes for even more for Italian speakers, if which we don't really seem to have any present.

Hello,

We can add a discussion on a OpenStreetMap organization on our agenda. In French, briefly summarized:

I apologize for hijacking this thread (and for using English, but my French is simply lousy).
At the Zürich "Stammtisch" we have repeatedly discussed the idea of creating a Swiss OSM association which could help with
- running (a) server(s) with Swiss projects (not only from a financial
and organisational point of view, but more important: helping to protect individuals from legal and financial liabilities)
- acting as a formal contract party for data providers (swisstopo and so
on)
- and potentially be a local chapter of the OSMF
I should point out that I have a rather long personal history with activities in associations and at one point in time promised myself that I would never help founding one again :-). However after attending the OpenData conference today in Berne, I must say that having a minimal formal organisational base would really help.
I would also like to make clear, that in my vision such an association would be very non-intrusive and light weight.
If you have time at your meeting, I would be very interested in feedback from the French-speaking part of Switzerland (and naturally from everybody else too).
