Hello, By mistake, I deleted an area. It is part of a big commit. The area was a landing place for paragliding, with many tags. I can remap the area, but I don't remember the tags. [1] * API will NOT allow map editing (using iD, JOSM, Merkaartor etc.), but will remain available as read-only. [2] Other OpenStreetMap provided services should not be affected - all of the following are expected to function normally: * Forum * trac (bug-tracker) * help.openstreetmap.org * tile serving ("View The Map" & "Export") * Wiki * Nominatim (search) * mailing lists * subversion and git (source code repositories) * donate.openstreetmap.org Technical: Database servers ramoth & katla hardware maintenance. Upgrade of web frontends spike-01, spike-02 & spike-03 with HP DL360 G6 (Xeon 56xx) hardware. 1: Maps will still be viewable on the openstreetmap.org homepage and on other people's websites. 2: The sysadmin team will try as far as possible to keep the API available in read-only mode, but the API may be briefly unavailable. Complex crossings and routing.osm.ch

Hi I found some wired routing on detailed mapped crossings like http://osm.li/2E Instead of simply using way http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/58591662 and way http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/44850965 it looks like the routing tries to avoid the traffic light http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/255758805 One solution would be to add turn restrictions. There are about 10 "crossings" where you can't turn left or right. We would need at least 2 restrictions on each of these points. An other solution is to ignore traffic lights in routing or add a penalty for each turn, because you normally have to slow down. Or is there a "better" way for mapping big crossings to avoid such indirections? I don't want to map for the router, but in this case there are turns possible in the OSM data which are not allowed in reality. Micha

Hi! I often use and love routing.osm.ch, thanks a lot for it! In its French version (and apparently also German, Italian and, partly, English), it unfortunately has a layout bug which makes two important parts of its user interface invisible: the estimation of the trip time, and the link to generate a permalink. One of the key driving forces in this change has been Volunteered Geographic Information of which OpenStreetMap is one of the most famous projects. OpenStreetMap was developed with the motto of ?creating a free editable map of the world? in a collaborative manner so that people and end-users are not forced to buy geodata in the traditional way and subsequently be subject to restrictive copyright commitments. OpenStreetMap started with a focus on mapping streets and roads. Since then it has moved far beyond these entities and it now contains a very rich variety of geographical objects all over the planet being mapped by hundreds and thousands of volunteer contributors to the project. The gradual evolution of the OpenStreetMap eco-system has been very successfully. The project had a slow start but since 2007 there has been an ever increasing rate of people joining the project with just over 1.42 million registered users in November 2013. The academic and industrial communities have recognized OpenStreetMap not solely based on its rise to prominence in becoming an important distributor of geodata but its wider success in growing a global community of people who support the OpenStreetMap project. The OpenStreetMap community is actively involved in much more than collecting geodata to build and maintain its global database. The community is involved in: humanitarian work in many regions; open source software development to support OpenStreetMap and the GIS community; and in building a network of support for those using and contributing to the OpenStreetMap project. In recent years several scientific disciplines (e.g., geography, GIScience, spatial planning, cartography, computer science, social science, and ecology) have realized the immense potential of OpenStreetMap and it has become the subject of academic research. The OpenStreetMap offered researchers a unique dataset which is global in scale and a body of knowledge created and maintained by a very large collaborative network of volunteers. Research on OpenStreetMap has shown that it's geodata in some parts of the world are more complete and locationally and semantically more accurate than the corresponding proprietary datasets. Objectives and Scope The main objective of the intended edited volume is to seek experiences using OpenStreetMap including cutting edge scientific investigations on OpenStreetMap from different geodata and users perspectives as well as developed and under development applications benefiting from OpenStreetMap and the advancement and promotion of OpenStreetMap in GIScience. Due to the complexity, inter- and trans-disciplinary nature of collaborative mapping projects such as OpenStreetMap, submissions of chapter proposals from an extensive range of scientific disciplines such as geography, cartography, computer science, statistics, geographic information science, sociology, urban planning, environment planning, transportation, and civil engineering are highly welcome. The edited book is scheduled to be published by Springer in its leading series in GIScience ?Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Cartography? series, edited by William Cartwright, George Gartner, Liqiu Meng, and Michael P. The book seeks to build a firm foundation for research work focused on integrating OpenStreetMap. Chapters should address the following research topics, however not limited to: a) State-of-the-art and cutting-edge approaches for data quality analysis and data fusion techniques in OpenStreetMap and other Volunteered Geographic Information sources, b) Investigations on understanding OpenStreetMap contributors and the nature of their contributions, c) Identification of patterns of contributions and contributors in OpenStreetMap, d) Desktop, online, and mobile applications of OpenStreetMap in different domains (e.g. 3D, routing, traffic, disaster management, health, crime, history, ecology, etc.), e) Mining value-added knowledge and information from OpenStreetMap, f) Limitations and possibilities in the analysis of OpenStreetMap data, g) Integration of OpenStreetMap with commercial and non-commercial geodatasets, h) Emergence and evolution of OpenStreetMap across the world, i) OpenStreetMap?s contribution to GIScience. Submission and Important Dates All chapter proposals will be evaluated by a committee of experts before author(s) are being invited to submit their full book chapters. Chapters must not have been published elsewhere. Unpublished conference presentations and extended conference works are acceptable. Published conference presentations (e.g., in a proceedings volume) may be acceptable if the full copyright can be transferred. Submission procedure for chapter proposals (abstracts): Length: 1-2 pages Format: Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF Figures/Tables: Must be legible (<300 dpi are accepted at this stage) Important dates: January 31, 2014: Chapter proposal submission deadline February 28, 2014: Notification of chapter acceptance/rejection and invitation to submit full chapters May 30, 2014: Final chapter submission deadline July 30, 2014: Acceptance/rejection notification sent to author(s) September 30, 2014: Final revised chapter submission deadline December, 2014: Expected publication of book General: Submissions must include the author's names, affiliation, mailing address, and e-mail address. Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren Ein interessantes Projekt, das "Stadtgeflüster" Gefreut hätte es mich noch viel mehr, wenn Sie auch den Ursprung des benutzten Kartenmaterials benennen würden; OpenStreetMap [1][2] Ohne die unzähligen Freiwilligen, auch hier in der Schweiz [3][4], gäbe es kein "Stadtgeflüster", respektive Sie müssten das grundlegende Kartenmaterial käuflich erwerben und dürften dies nicht einfach kostenlos benutzen. Freiwilligen Projekte wie OpenStreetMap "leben" auch davon, dass über sie berichtet und sie benannt werden, wenn von ihnen bereitgestelltes Material benutzt wird. Leben in dem Sinn, dass so weitere Freiwillige animiert werden mitzumachen und das Bestehende zu verbessern. Vielleicht holen Sie das Vergessene noch nach? English text see below... Hallo zusammen Im Rahmen einer Projektarbeit für mein Studium werde ich die Adress-Ansicht vom OSM Inspector ( http://tools.geofabrik.de/osmi/ ) überarbeiten. Diese soll Mappern helfen, unvollständige oder fehlerhafte (Post-)Adress-Einträge zu finden und allenfalls zu korrigieren. Aus Performance-Gründen wird diese Ansicht derzeit nur für Europa berechnet. Durch eine Änderung der Architektur soll die Performance erhöht werden, wodurch es möglich sein sollte, die Ansicht auf die gesamte Welt zu erweitern. Gibt es aus eurer Sicht Dinge, die derzeit nicht richtig funktionieren oder Funktionen, die neu eingebaut werden sollten? Gerne nehme ich eure Vorschläge entgegen. (Allerdings muss ich aber auch gleich vorweg nehmen, dass die zur Verfügung stehende Zeit limitiert ist und ich wohl nicht alle Wünsche berücksichtigen kann.) Bereits angedacht sind folgende Ideen: - Tagging mit addr:place=... bzw. mittels Relation berücksichtigen - Aufspüren von Einträgen mit isolierter (also möglicherweise falsch getaggter) Postleitzahl - Visualisieren von Lücken in den Hausnummer-Einträgen - Feststellen von Adress-Duplikaten - Visualisieren von Eingängen (entrance=...) - Feststellen, wenn der exakt ausgeschriebene Strassenname nicht vorhanden ist, aber dafür einer mit ähnlicher Schreibweise Für Feedback zu andern Layern als dem Adress-Layer wendet ihr euch bitte an Frederik Ramm: frederik(a)remote.org Grüsse Lukas Hey there As a project thesis for my master studies I will overhaul the Address view of the OSM Inspector ( http://tools.geofabrik.de/osmi/ ). Its purpose is to support mappers in finding invalid or incomplete (postal) address entries. Due to performance reasons this view is currently Europe only. The goal of this thesis is to change the architecture to improve the performance and be able to provide a worldwide view. Is there anything in the current view that you would like to be changed or do you have suggestions for new functions? I'd like to hear your ideas. (At the same time I have to admit that I probably will not be able to implement all wishes.) Bonjour, J'aimerais indiquer dans OSM la protection d'objets historiques en Suisse (dolmens, châteaux, monuments…) Il existe à cet effet les tags : heritage=* heritage:operator=* ref:*=* Ce qui manque dans OSM pour la Suisse, c'est l'opérateur et une ou des valeurs pour héritage (1 étant utilisé pour un classement mondial) Peux-t-on utiliser ISOS ? Le niveau de classement pourrait-être (si cela existe effectivement en pratique): heritage=2 national/fédéral heritage=3 cantonal ça donnerait : name = Menhirs de Clendy historic = archaeological_site site_type = megalith megalith_type = alignment heritage=2 heritage:operator=isos ref:isos=12345 La base de données ISOS (ou un extrait de celle-ci) est-elle disponible en ligne ? Dam does not render

I have attempted to change a dam from a simple way to an area to allow me to add a path crossing it [1]. So I took the original way, added nodes to make it an area, put steps going down from the upper road, a path across the dam joining the steps to the lower road. The steps and the path render properly, and the name of the dam shows, but not the dam itself. What can I do to make the dam render properly? Frage zu Routing OSRM in der Schweiz

Hallo ich versuche das OSRM Projekt mit Schweizer Daten und einem foot.lua Profile zum laufen zu bringen um einen Fussgänger Routing Server zu betreiben. Wenn ich das OSRM Projekt compiliere und dann mit osm-extract versuche das switzerland-latest.osm.pbf zu verarbeiten funktioniert das unter Ubuntu 12.04 LTE (auf Amazon EC2) nur mit dem car.lua (aus dem OSMR Project), wenn ich das foot.lua referenziere stürzt der Prozess unmotiviert ab. Unter OSX 10.8.4 funktioniert osm-extract mit keinem lua script. Ich habe zudem mein Glück mit den profiles aus https://github.com/lonvia/cbf-routing-profiles versucht, aber mit noch weniger Erfolg. Da unter routing.osm.ch ein Fussgänger Routing problemlos möglich ist, gehe ich davon aus, dass dies grundsätzlich möglich sein müsste. Hat jemand diesbezüglich einen Tip?
