Routing over ferry routes

Hello all, I recently noticed unexpected results when using the routing interface at routing.osm.ch. When planning a bike or foot hike, the algorithm uses ferry routes over lakes if this makes the route shorter. For instance, this bike course between Brienz and Bönigen mostly uses ferry routes : https://routing.osm.ch/?z=13&center=46.715386%2C7.975903&loc=46.755034%2C8.… Is this the expected result, an issue with the OSRM routing algorithm itself, its parameters or the definition of the ferry route ? To me, routing over ferries is conceptually wrong, because the user is not actually biking or hiking on the ferry route. To stretch this to the extreme, the foot/bike routes should also include motorways and railways because a pedestrian/cyclist can mount a car/bus/train. Best regards. Alain

Hello, who/what are using swisstopo tag from osm ? I ask this because : - it lacks tags on 169 municipalities. https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/uaq if they are actually used, is it a tool to update them ? - Wouldn't it be better to migrate to a more modern schema ? swisstopo:BFS_NUMMER can move to ref: namespace swisstopo:KANTONSNUM can be put once on admin_level=4 boundary swisstopo:BEZIRKSNUM can be put once on admin_level=6 boundary swisstopo:BFS_NUMMER can be computed with CH+BEZIRKSNUM+BFS_NUMMER Regards, Marc

As I was just looking for an example of admin_level=9 administrative divisions and I found that duplicate example, I find it quite probable that there might be other mistakes here and there. It's only a guess, and in any case I am quite sure this happens with mostly all countries. Sometimes errors come from newbies who don't know really how to handle a boundary relation. The overpass to download all administrative boundaries of Switzerland that I used is: [timeout:150]; ( node["boundary"="administrative"](area:3600051701); way["boundary"="administrative"](area:3600051701); relation["boundary"="administrative"](area:3600051701); ); out meta; >; out meta; Running the JOSM validator I can give you some error examples: 1. Heimiswil [1] in Canton Bern has 470 duplicated nodes. 2. Bonfol [2] and Vendlincourt [3] nodes, that are duplicated as members of their respective relations with label and admin_centre roles. 3. Zürich airport area [4] is tagged as boundary=administrative, and crossing the boundaries it finds on its way. 4. Apart of Zürich airport, there are other 4 boundary=administrative segments around Switzerland without the admin_level tag. One exemple is this one [5], that belongs to 2 admin_level=6 entities, 2 admin_level=8, 1 admin_level=9 and 1 admin_level=10. The rest of the errors, like 25 unclosed boundaries, you can get them from the JOSM validator. Cheers, Rafael. Liebe Entwicklerinnen und Entwickler, im März kommt der OSGeo Code Sprint 2018 nach Bonn! Er findet vom 18.03.-25.03.2018 im BaseCamp Bonn zeitlich parallel zur FOSSGIS-Konferenz 2018 statt. Das BaseCamp ist ein großartiger Ort für eine solche Veranstaltung. Codesprint und Unterkunft sind in einer alten Fabrikhalle mit unterschiedlichsten Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten vom Campingwagen bis zur Gondel. Der Code Sprint ist offen für alle, die an einem oder mehreren Projekten mitarbeiten möchten. Es gibt immer viel zu tun - nicht nur zu Programmieren. Es scheint so als ab dem 1.1.2018 die von der swisscom betriebenen Telefonkabinen endgültig verschwinden. Wir haben im Augenblick um 1'700 von angeblich noch 4'000, also ein bisschen die Augen aufhalten ob die Dinger noch bei euch stehen. Simon

Good evening everyone I've got two questions related to DIDOK and public transport: 1. Is it fine to put `uic_ref` and `uic_name` tags only on `public_transport=stop_area` if present? Or is required to put them on `highway=bus_stop`/`railway=tram_stop`/`railway=station`/`railway=halt` in addition or instead for reasons of compatibility? 2. Is there any preferred formatting for the `operator` key (abbreviation, official name of the company or a combination)? For example we currently have these variants for PostAuto Schweiz AG according to Taginfo (plus combinations with other operators and many other (mis)spellings): - PAG: 11,097 - PostAuto Schweiz AG: 875 - PAG PostAuto Schweiz AG: 123 - PostAuto Schweiz AG (PAG): 117 - CarPostal Suisse SA: 46 Regards

(english text below) Hallo zusammen Ich hatte gerade folgende Idee: Wie wäre es, wenn wir interessierten Anfängern anbieten würden, Einzel-Schulungen fürs Mappen durchzuführen? Wir könnten das auf der Homepage entsprechend kommunizieren, Anfragen entgegennehmen und auf Freiwillige verteilen, welche in der Nähe wohnen. Vorteile wären: - Verringerung der Hemmschwelle Änderungen an den Daten vorzunehmen - Einbindung von Anfängern in die Community (durch Verweis auf Mailingliste, Stammtisch, etc.) - Weniger Aufwand/falsche Daten durch fehlerhaftes Mapping - Geringerer Aufwand als das Organisieren einer ganzen Mapping-Party - Effizienz, da seitens des Interessierten schon ein Grundinteresse besteht wenn er sich meldet Was meint ihr dazu? We could publish such an offer on the webiste, process such requests and distribute them amongst volunteers that live close. Yes, a new year is approaching with alarming speed, as every year since we imported the municipal administrative boundaries we will update them on the 1.1. or soon after. Riot – Riot – open team collaboration

Hello Is there any interest in a Riot collaboration chat? It is an open source alternative of Slack and might improve collaboration in our "team". It could be a tool to focus for SOSM members instead of the whole talk list. There are open servers or we could host it ourselves. This is just a quick thought wile a party where I barely know someone. Not really thought through. Lutry passe le cap de 10000 habitants

Bonjour à tous, D'après "le courrier" du jeudi 30 novembre, la commune de Lutry vient de passer le cap de 10'000 habitans. Cela signifie-t-il qu'il faudrait changer le noeud de Lutry "place=village" en "place=town" ? A vrai dire il faut avouer que les "villes" de banlieues de plus de 10'000 habitants ne sont tout de même pas la même chose que les vraies villes historiques (c.à.d. Lausanne); Mais Pully, Ecublens, Renens, etc... sont déjà taguées "place=town". Salutations -- Jonathan Masur

Liebe OSM Gemeinschaft, Erstmal möchte ich mich entschuldigen für mein Deutch Niveau, ich bin seit nur vier Monaten in der Schweiz. Aber wenn man es nicht versucht und übt, dann wird es nie besser. Ich sehe dass im Kanton Zürich die separate Wanderwegstrecken teilweise gebündelt sind in Superrelationen. * Wanderwege ZH https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/300476 * Wanderwege ZH, Bezirk Hinwil https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/190641 * Wanderwege ZH, Bezirk Uster https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/117797 * Wanderwege ZH, Bezirk Zürich https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/300469 Teilweise verstehe ich der Hang eine Bündel dar zu stellen, aber wie im Wiki schön gesagt «https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/DE:Relationen/Relationen_sind_keine_Kategorien». Weil die Superrelationen schon seit 8 Jahre bestehen möchte ich sie nicht direkt löschen, aber es hier mal vorschlagen. Ich würde vorschlagen die zwei Ebenen Superrelationen zu löschen und nur die separate Relationen jede Strecke des Netz zu behalten. Bonjour, Le tag permet à un contributeur qu'il souhaite un deuxième avis sur sa modification. Je regarde régulièrement les changeset avec ce tag, le plus souvent utilisé par un contributeur récent. C'est un outil pratique pour aider à s'améliorer. A ma demande, Pascal Neis l'auteur du site web ci-dessous, a ajouté une option pour n'afficher que les changeset sans commentaire, ceux qui sont le + susceptible d'avoir besoin d'un coup d’œil. Pour la Suisse, cela donne > https://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-suspicious?country=182&hours=96&mapping… Pour que cette nouvelle option fonctionne, il faut bien sur prendre la peine de mettre un petit mot sur le changeset (même quand il n'y a rien à corriger). Wir hatten gestern wieder ein paar Neulinge (das wird noch mehr werden) die vermutlich PokemonGo motiviert angefangen haben zu mappen, alle haben die Begrüssungsmail von uns bekommen, und allfällige Phantasieedits scheinen sich im Rahmen zu halten. Bonjour à tous, Ma question était juste de savoir quand cela était justifié, le lien était là seulement pour montrer de quoi je parlais dans un endroit connu. Je ne me posais pas la question si c'était justifié ici en particulier, mais de manière générale.
